If you’ve followed our Ultimate Track and Street Car Build Blog on our 2011 Mustang 5.0L RTR race car, you’ve seen our build and all the products used along the way. One of our favorite parts about this Mustang is the exhaust. We never really covered the installation of the exhaust or even got sound clips of it, mostly due to the fact that we just wanted it done so we could all get our turn behind the wheel!

Now that the car is completely finished up and where we want it, we have a little more time to go back and touch on the exhaust and to get a good sound clip video out to you guys!

First up, we started with a set of Stainlessworks Long Tube Headers with Catalytic Converters. These are some of the best quality headers you will find on the market for the new 2011-12 Mustang 5.0L. These stainless works headers feature 1-7/8″ primary tubes and 3″ collectors as well as 3″ X pipe & high flow catalytic converters that mate to the factory connection point. Additional features of these Stainless Works Headers include fully tig welded 304 SS construction with 3/8″ thick flanges and 3″ diameter slip fit collectors with merge spikes. All these qualities ensure you’re getting the highest quality header for your new 2011-12 5.0 Mustang.

Next up, we have a 2011-12 Mustang GT Bassani Cat-Back with X-pipe. You may have noticed that that is 2 x-pipes that we now have. We used the Bassani X rather than the Stainlessworks just to keep the cat-back all together. If you want to keep your factory piping you can run just the Bassani Axle-Back Kit, it is the same axle back included in the cat-back system, just without all the piping. This Bassani catback system 5011R-5 for your 2011-12 Mustang 5.0L GT is designed to maximize performance, improve style and enhance sound characteristics. Featuring 100% stainless steel construction, this system supports huge increases over the stock power level! 3″ polished mufflers and massive polished 4″ rolled edge tips make this kit look as good as it performs!

Other features include:

  • Full mandrel-bent tubing, 3″ diameter flow path throughout system; including “X” crossover pipe.
  • Can be connected to stock cats, stock manifolds or Bassani long tube headers with available adapters
  • Can also be connected to ANY other aftermarket headers by fabricating custom adapters
  • 3″ X-crossover is integral part of system and can be used even if installing with other aftermarket headers (see above)
  • Utilizes stock rubber hangers for installation; no cutting of the vehicle is required for installation

After the installation of the Bassani cat-back, we buttoned everything back up and got the new 2011 5.0 on the ground. I’m sure by now everyone has a heard what a quiet, stock, new Mustang 5.0L sounds like so we went ahead and got straight to the good stuff in the video below…….Hope you enjoy!
