Project Six Appeal: Stage 2

As some of our faithful blog readers have been following our recent Latemodel Restoration Project Cars, you may have picked up on the fact that we recently aquiried a new 2011 Mustang 3.7L V6. We have named it Project: Six Appeal. We started with a teaser blog on the build up and this blog will show the first build day we had at the MCA Wild West Pony Show. Day one consisted of a complete tear down of the New 2011 Mustang V6 and then the installation of a Ford Racing Handling Pack, Ford Racing Brembo Front Brake Upgrade, Ford Racing Adjustable Rear Panhard Bar, SVE Heavy Duty Rear Lower Control Arms, Magnaflow Axle Back Kit, GT500 Rear Valance and a set of Ford Racing 19X9″ Boss 302 Laguna Seca Wheels wrapped in 275/35/19 Nitto NT555′s. You may say that seems like a lot of work in one day, but follow the blog and watch just how easy it is to transform a new 2011 Mustang V6 from stock to shock in a days work……
Some may think it was crazy of us to take a perfectly good running and driving 2011 Mustang and begin a huge project on it with only 300 miles on the odometer, but come on, who likes to drive a stock V6 Mustang when you have all these parts at your finger tips! Some of you say who drives a V6 Mustang at all? See our other blog on that. Needless to say, being it was my car, it meant quite a bit to me to get this show on the road. Bright and early Saturday morning, Scott and I put on our gloves and got busy ripping stock parts off the new 2011 V6 Mustang. As you can see we made quick work out of the stock Mustang with a complete teardown in only 50 minutes! You think we could open a chop shop with that kind of speed, but really working on a brand new car with the right tools makes the job 100% easier. Now remember, this is not all of the parts going on the car so some things were not removed like the stock headers, mid-pipe or intake system…..
After the Mustang was all torn down, Scott and I took a lunch break and started back on the car around Noon Saturday. Our goal for the day was to have all the suspension and brakes on the Mustang, functioning properly by 5pm. With everything unboxed and ready to roll, Scott took the front suspension while I jumped in and started the rear suspension. We used the Ford Racing Handling Pack, Ford Racing Adjustable Rear Panhard Bar and a set of our own SVE Heavy Duty Rear Lower Control Arms.
All of the new Ford Racing Suspension Kit went is without a hitch, looks great under the car and will definitely make a huge difference when the Mustang hits the ground. After the suspension was all buttoned up and torqued down, Scott started on the Ford Racing Brembo Front Brake Upgrade for the base Mustang and I removed the dual factory axleback mufflers and installed the new dual Magnaflow Axle Back Kit along with the great looking GT500 Rear Valance.
After getting the new Magnaflow axle-back bolted in and the GT-500 valance attached to the rear bumper, we reinstalled the rear bumper. We also changed out the stock rear brake pads to the GT500 pads included in the front brake kit, which are simply a replacement for the stock pads.
Once everything was bolted up and ready to go, all we had left was the wheels and tires! This was probably one of the most exciting parts of the build-up as we would actually get the car back down on the ground and see how the new Ford Racing 19X9″ Boss 302 Laguna Seca Wheels look on the Mustang and not to mention how sick the huge black Brembo brakes looked sitting behind them. We bolted on the new wheels and tire kit and got her back on the ground for some final pictures and to stop the clock at around 3:30 that day, which left us an hour and a half before our schedueld deadline for the day. Not only were we able to completely transform the look of my new 2011 Mustang V6 but we were also about to install some of the best parts in the industry for a easy installation and a perfect finished product. Overall the day was a major success and with the car looking good now, all we need is some go fast goodies….Stay tuned for Part 3(performance) of our 2011 Mustang V6 Project: Six Appeal build coming soon……
